Staff Sgt Brian Piercy was brought home to Clovis just before noon on Wednesday, July 28, 2010.
He was accompanied by members of his United States Army unit, the 82nd Airborne.
The military provides a uniformed escort for all casualties to ensure they are delivered safely to the next of kin and are treated with dignity and respect along the way. The escort will be with him until that mission is accomplished.
Every American casualty receives this complex and dedicated honor for his or her volunteer service to their country. They are brought home to family, friends and communities large and small all across America.
This week it was California’s Central Valley who mourned a young man in uniform.
Those who stood along the route from the Fresno’s airport that led to the Boyce Funeral Home came to pay their respects, mourn his passing and support his grieving family. Just like the members of his 82nd Airborne unit who brought him home.
My prayers are with all the members of Staff Sgt Piercy's family.. It was an honor to be able to be among the many people lining the streets of Clovis to pay respects to Brian and his family on Wednesday.. My son is serving in Afghanistan he is part of sending our fallen heros home to their families. He told me it is the hardest and most honorable duty..
